Marquesa Gallery participates in ArteSantander 2026

From 2 to 5 July we will be at booth N3 of one of the most consolidated contemporary art fairs in Spain

Marquesa Gallery will participate for the first time in ArteSantander, the renowned international contemporary art fair held annually in the Cantabrian capital. From 2 to 5 July 2026, the Santander Exhibition and Congress Centre will once again bring together national and international galleries, collectors, industry professionals and art lovers in an essential event within the Spanish artistic calendar.

Founded in 1995, ArteSantander is one of the longest-running fairs in the country and stands out for offering a particularly close and leisurely visit experience. Its commitment to carefully defined projects allows the public to delve into the proposals presented and discover with greater attention the work of the participating artists. Throughout its more than three decades of history, the fair has established itself as a meeting place between contemporary creation, collecting and artistic thinking.

For this edition, Marquesa Gallery presents a selection of works by Laura Segura, Bernabé Gilabert and Santiago Serrano at booth N3. Three artists of very different generations and trajectories who, however, share the same concern: exploring what remains beyond the immediate.

A proposal on permanence

We live in an era marked by speed, the overabundance of images and the constant renewal of stimuli. Faced with this context, the proposal of Marquesa Gallery in ArteSantander raises an invitation to stop.

The selected works speak of what resists the passage of time. Of the links we maintain with nature, of the memory that remains in the spaces and of the essential questions that continue to accompany the human being even in the moments of greatest uncertainty.

Although each artist develops their own language, the works presented establish a natural conversation with each other. Laura Segura finds in matter and in the processes of nature a way back to the origin. Bernabé Gilabert turns architecture and its footprints into a reflection on time and memory. Santiago Serrano, for its part, uses abstraction and symbol to address the contradictions of the present.

Three different perspectives that converge in the same idea: the search for meaning in an increasingly complex world.

Laura Segura: back to origin

The work of Laura Segura (Seville, 1985) is located in the territory where art, nature and sensory experience meet. His artistic practice is based on organic materials, manual processes and a deep attention to natural cycles to build works that connect with essential aspects of existence.

Through elements such as beeswax, porcelain, wool or natural pigments, Segura develops a language that transcends the visual and also appeals to memory, touch and perception of the environment. His pieces constantly refer to concepts such as origin, growth, transformation and the connection between the human being and the earth.

Far from proposing a romantic vision of nature, the artist proposes a conscious relationship with it, claiming its complexity, its intelligence and its ability to continue offering answers to some of the fundamental questions of our time.

Bernabé Gilabert: the memory of spaces

The paintings of Bernabé Gilabert are born from a careful observation of the places we inhabit. Walls, architectural surfaces and time-transformed structures serve as the starting point for research that goes far beyond representation.

His pictorial language is characterized by a great economy of means and a remarkable formal precision. Behind that apparent simplicity, however, lies a deep emotional charge. His works seem to contain silent stories, accumulated memories, and traces of lives that are no longer present.

Gilabert turns architecture into visual memory. His compositions speak of the passage of time, wear and the ability of spaces to preserve invisible experiences. In an age dominated by immediacy, his work demands contemplation and attention to what usually goes unnoticed.

Santiago Serrano: an essential look at contemporary Spanish art

Santiago Serrano is one of the fundamental figures of Spanish art in recent decades. With more than sixty individual exhibitions and presence in important national and international collections, his career occupies a prominent place in the recent history of contemporary painting.

Throughout more than five decades of work, Serrano has developed a constant research around abstraction, geometry and visual thinking. His work is part of institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, as well as prominent private collections inside and outside Spain.

In Arte Santander we present works from his series Silenciarios y Quimeras and Acero Rosa, a set in which the artist reflects on some of the tensions that define the present. Steel appears as a symbol of a world marked by hardness, uncertainty and conflict, while pink introduces a seemingly lighter dimension, associated with fragility or the search for beauty.

Through refined forms and structures of great visual strength, Serrano transforms these contradictions into an aesthetic experience that invites reflection, demonstrating the extraordinary validity of an artistic trajectory that continues to dialogue with our time.
