In her work, Lauren Januhowski investigates the relationships between intimacy, communication and female memory through tissue. His works are born from the gesture, repetition and time spent in each stitch, in a process where sewing, embroidering and assembling become thought forms. Rather than focusing solely on the final image, he is interested in that process remaining visible, like a material and emotional imprint that passes through each piece.
Through the thread, the overlapping of fabrics and the delicacy of detail, his work connects us with a symbolic dimension where the everyday and the invisible are intertwined. His compositions evoke bonds, tensions and shared gestures, building a language of their own that refers to ancestral knowledge and forms of transmission that have endured over time.
What We Invoke / What we invoke is an invitation to stop, to observe closely and to let oneself be carried away by an intimate and almost ritualistic experience, in which the act of weaving becomes a bridge between the visible and the as yet unformed.
