El eco del otro
The mask then works not as a lie, but as a form of revelation.Read full text

José Luis Ceña builds a pictorial universe where childhood appears as a territory of exploration, transformation and discovery. Children’s figures in animal masks place the viewer in an ambiguous space where the game becomes a way of constructing identity.
Masks function as symbols of what we project, imagine, or try to understand about ourselves. With sensitivity, stillness and a certain strangeness, Ceña proposes to reflect on the masks we choose, those we inherit and those we continue to wear almost without noticing it.
