Rubén Martín de Lucas investigates how we inhabit, delimit and transform territory. His work calls into question the property, the borders and the mechanisms by which we try to order nature. Painting, action, video and intervention are part of a practice that connects physical experience and critical thinking.
After graduating in Road Engineering in 2002, he decided to dedicate himself to art. He co-founded Boa Mistura and worked with the collective between 2001 and 2015; since then he develops his individual practice. Projects such as Iceberg Nations translate questions about sovereignty and territory into concrete situations, while his painting examines the relationship between the domesticated and the wild.
His work has been presented in centers such as the CAB of Burgos and the Lianzhou Museum of Photography, in China, and in festivals such as Encontros da Imagem and Circulation(s). In Marquesa, Domesticarse o morir delves into the tensions between freedom, adaptation and control.
