Biography

Peter Zarkob is a photographer from Seville who studied Information Sciences, in the field of Advertising, at the University of Seville. His career began in graphic design and corporate identity, where he learned to condense ideas into simple signs and structures. Work on advertising campaigns led him to produce his own images and develop a photographic practice that combines compositional clarity with a search for emotional resonance.

His visual language lies between describing a place and transforming it into an image open to interpretation. He works primarily in high-contrast black and white, while attending closely to tonal transitions and the relationship between light, shadow and empty space. By selecting a few elements from a scene, he shifts attention towards its rhythms, proportions and tensions. The image retains a connection with everyday life while allowing another atmosphere to emerge.
Architecture holds a central place in this approach. Bridges, footbridges, interiors and urban structures provide lines and volumes that he can rearrange through framing. During lockdown, empty streets offered a different way of observing buildings, freed from the city’s usual movement. Works devoted to the Alamillo Bridge and Metropol Parasol reveal his attention to Seville’s architecture and to the ability of a detail to change our perception of the whole.
In his rowing photographs, human movement introduces another dimension of geometry. Taken from a bridge, Resiliencia and Teamwork explore effort, coordination and the relationship between bodies, boats and water. Choosing the instant requires observation and patience. Resiliencia received the Non-Professional Event Photographer of the Year recognition at TIFA 2021; Teamwork earned the Non-Professional Sports Photographer of the Year title at the 2022 IPA.
Landscape and scenes of leisure expand this repertoire. Summer uses a beach scene to suggest an experience and a mood; Airplane mode evokes pause and disconnection through formal reduction and contrast. In these images, simplification concentrates attention and leaves room for the viewer’s imagination. Both works were recognized by the Prix de la Photographie Paris in different categories: Fine Art/Landscape in 2022 and Special/Special Effects in 2025.
His work has circulated through group exhibitions associated with photography competitions and juried programs. These include Monochrome and Water at PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont, the 2022 IPA Best of Show selection, and award-winner exhibitions at House of Lucie venues. In 2024 Persistence was included in the BIFA exhibition in Budapest. This trajectory brings architecture, landscape and sports photography together through a shared concern with visual economy and the construction of meaning.
